Old Boy Chris Fox (1993) returned for an art workshop with Year 11 students in May 2019. Chris also attended the 2019 St Joseph’s College Art Show, as the special guest, to deliver the opening address to students, parents and staff in attendance.
“Having established myself as a professional artist, I wanted to connect with the boys to share my experiences. Although it doesn’t happen overnight, having a career in the creative industries requires sustained engagement and an agility in thinking. Visual arts is such a worthwhile and fulfilling career. If you stick with it you can make great things. I think Old Boys returning means a huge amount to the next generation because they can see new potentials with respect to their future possibilities.”
Since completing the HSC at Joeys in 1993, Chris Fox studied both architecture and fine arts and was awarded the 2018 National Trust Heritage Award for the Most Outstanding Project of the Year for his Interloop installation at Wynyard Station.
